How.in.the.actual. did we end up with only two major political parties? Let's figure that out. We'll start at the very beginning, a very good place to start, and follow the rise of both the Republicans and the Democrats, how they have changed over the years, and what they believe now -- it's probably not what you think! Did the Republicans used to be the progressive party? What does progressive even mean? Were the democrats conservative? The answers might surprise you. We'll also touch on some of the larger third parties, and what it would take for a third party to be a player on the national election stage.
